Red River Gorge #1

Red River Gorge Property #1

This is an amazing property.  It is nearly 300 acres in a peninsula on top of the cliffs near Red River Gorge.  The property is bounded on three sides by high cliffs that provide amazing panoramic views of remote sections of the Daniel Boone National Forest and Indian Creek tributary to the Red River below.  There are some cleared areas, some mature woods, and some young woods that has been recently timbered.

The purchase of this property was a stretch for us and we ended up selling it to a like-minded friend on a sad day. The property is set up so that someone could build a cabin near the end of the peninsula and be two miles from any other privately owned parcel of land for complete seclusion.  Since then, I have done considerable research of the topography in the Red River Gorge area and I believe that there are no other privately owned parcels with these natural features.

The photo below is from one of the clifflines.  All of the land above the cliffline to the right of the photo is also on the property.

  Update: SOLD.

Another cliff-side view. This one looking north.

Here is a view showing some of the cleared pasture area as well as one of the two barns on the property.

This is a spot that s hard to capture in a picture. There is a water fall that falls into a pool, then passes through a rock overhang or shelter before plunging over the cliff.
Picture
This is a view down the valley toward Red River Gorge from a large flat outcropping. We had lunch here and it felt like we were on top of the world, however, it was easy to see why there are deaths in the gorge. A fall from here would last for several seconds but would not end well.
Picture
This picture is not taken on the property. This is a photo of the creek that flows through the national forest below the cliffs. I understand that this creek is stocked with trout. The property is bounded on two sides by creeks that originate on the property before falling over the cliffs to meet this creek below. Approximately five miles downstream of this point, this creek meets the Red River.

Here we are hiking out to the point where the pictuer to the left was taken.

A fall photo as I was heading out to a point of the cliff.
